Quantifiers tell you how many things or how much of something. Some and a lot of are quantifiers that can be used with countable or uncountable nouns.
Countable nouns : a lot of boxes, some oranges
Uncountable nouns : a lot of rice, some chicken soup
Examples :
- Mr. Lee sold a lot of fruit. There were some boxes outside his shop.
- Alice ate a lot of rice. Joe had some chicken soup.
A few and many are examples of quantifiers that used with countable nouns.
Examples:
- I bought a few notebooks from the school.
- Many pupils were there playing basket ball.
A little and much are examples of quantifiers that used with uncountable.
Examples:
- There was too much milk for Alice drink.
- Mr. Lee has a little tea left.
